Creating a Path to Success (C.A.P.S) - a program for future leaders
Young leaders part of the Creating A Path to Success program spent the day at the Google campus in Silicon Beach, learning networking, business skills, and yours truly got to give them a taste of agile.
These rising stars from local colleges and universities were eager to learn. They brought their full selves forward, taking risks, taking chances to improve their networking skills (role plays, they did ROLE PLAYS! those were always terrifying to me), as well as learn as much as they could to make their LinkedIn profile stand out.
We played the Ball Point Game to bring in some agile concepts to a mock company they were running. While this group’s first company ran into some issues, they used the experience to knock it out of the park with their second company. Feedback from participants was great! One woman, who had been working while getting her Masters told the entire group that the dynamics that came up in the game were the same dynamics that actually occurred in the workplace, and having the skills of retrospectives, and iterations were going to be useful.
Super happy I could help and share a little bit from my part :) I love learners.
Amazing work to all the organizers. David Betancourt, thank you for inviting me to be part of such a special workshop. Pam Burga, Sergio Campos, it was a pleasure to see you lead these bright students!
